Star Island Resident Will Smith to Star in Men in Black III This Summer

Hooray!  Will Smith's Men In Black III is set to hit theaters in Imax 3D on May 25th.  A trailer for the sci-fi action comedy hit the web on March 6th.  The new film is a time-travel thrill ride, which sends Will's character, Agent J, back in time to 1969.  Apparently, Tommy Lee Jone's Agent K, was dead in the previous two installments, and Agent J has to go back in time to solve the mystery of what happened to him in order to quell an alien invasion.  Josh Brolin joins the romp as a younger version of Agent K.

Will Smith has not done a movie since 2008's "Seven Pounds."  As one of Star Island's most famous residents, we are thrilled to see Will back on the silver screen again.

In his 1998 hit song, "Miami," Will sang about the "city where the heat is on."  "I only came for two days of playing, but every time I come, I always wind up staying."  And stay he did.  Will and wife, Jada, and their 3 children, Trey, Jaden and Willow, call Star Island home, along with homes in Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Stockholm, Sweden.

The Smiths used to also own a home on Secret Beach in Kauai, Hawai, but back at the end of December, the Wall Street Journal reported that the couple had sold it at a huge appreciaton.  The Smiths purchased the property just 2 years before for $13.5 million and sold it for $20 million.  This $6.5 million markup in such a short period of time is pretty unusual in this market, but apparently, the couple was not even trying to sell the house, which was not listed on the market.  Perhaps the buyer just fell in love with it and was willing to pay that price.

And judging from the buzz over the release of the MIB III trailer, perhaps we, too, are ready to fall in love with Will alll over again.

How Blue is Your Mansion? Shoe Designer Donald Pliner's Star Island Home Remains on the Market

Back in February 2011, popular shoe designer Donald Pliner, best known for his animal print and western-influenced  designs, and his wife, Lisa, placed their Star Island mansion on the market for $24,000,000.  The 4 bedroom 8 1/2 bath home built in 2000 has 10,160 square feet.  Months later, the bold blue property at 29 Star Island Drive remained unsold, so the Pliners, in an apparent bid to change their fate, changed real estate agents and priced the house to sell at $19,999,000.

The Pliners paid $11.8 million for the property in Oct. 2004.  The home is described as a two-storied statement of Moorish architecture with a salt water pool facing the Bay, 100 feet of waterfront and private boat and jet ski docks.  But perhaps the most distinctive things about the mansion are its strikingly blue exterior and its Southwestern, African, and Balinese-influenced decor, complete with hand-painted murals.

In October, Lisa Pliner hosted a luncheon at the mansion for Emilio Pucci's new fragrance, Miss Pucci Intense, proving that Miami's sluggish real estate market has not dampened their use and enjoyment of the blue castle.

Star Island Beauty, Naomi Campbell, Shines in Milan

Our favorite Star Island beauty, Naomi Campbell, was recently off to Milan to close out Fashion Week at Roberto Cavalli's autum/winter 2012 show.  Naomi, who's 41, looked stunningly toned in a backless purple beaded gown with a plunging "v" neckline accessorized by long black elbow gloves.  Naomi may not like to call herself a supermodel, but she certainly still looks "super!"

And speaking of "V's," that was where you could find Ms. Campbell, channeling Tina Turner in February's issue of "V" Magazine.  The black and white photos showcase Naomi's beautiful legs, reminding you of another leggy Private Dancer.

There was never really any doubt, but Naomi proves yet again that she really does know it all in March's issue of Harper's Bazaar.  In another black and white pictoral, aptly-titled, "Naomi Knows It All," Ms. Campbell is shown in various sparkly numbers by Dolce & Gabbana,  Giambattista Valli, Givenchy, Hakaan and Gucci, all of them fabulous.

Closer to home on Miami Beach, as reported by the UK's Daily Mail on March 5th, Naomi ditched the designer duds for workout gear as she grabbed a morning coffee with longtime beau, Russian billionaire, Vladislav Doronin.  Wearing tight black leggings, sneakers and a baseball cap, Naomi proves she can look hot in any outfit.

We, of course, love it when she plays closer to home in Miami Beach.  Since 2009, the couple has called Star Island one of their multitude of homes with the purchase of Shaquille O' Neal's former 6 bedroom 7 bath mansion built in 1992.

"Scarface" House on Star Island For Sale

42 Star Island Drive, Miami Beach FL

Tony Montana's house on Star Island is up for sale!  This is the 8 bedroom 7 bath mansion located right next door to Rosie O' Donnell.  Other neighbors include P. Diddy, Gloria Estefan and Naomi Campbell and her billionaire boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin.  This is the first time the mansion, made famous by the 1983 film starring Al Pacino, has been listed since it was purchased by its current owner in 1978.

"Scarface" tells the tragic tale of a cuban immigrant, Tony Montano, who takes over a drug cartel and succumbs to greed and cocaine, eventually killing his longtime friend for sleeping with his sister before getting killed himself by an assasin.  The 1925 "Scarface" house is listed on Trulia for $12,000,000 and featues 205 linear feet of water frontage and an 8 ton boat lift with 4 boat slips.
